The Lady Titan softball team bounced back from two losses earlier this week to capture their first conference win of the year over Northeastern 10-0. Chloe Gentry had a good performance in the circle giving up just two hits, striking out six while only walking one.  Scoring for the Titans started out slow but they plated 4 runs in the 3rd inning, 3 in the 4th, and 3 in the fifth inning to secure the victory.
With the game tied at zeros in the bottom of the third, Chloe Genty led off with a triple to right center field. Cayla Claar bunted and Northeastern attempted a play on Gentry at third instead of getting the out at first. All runners were safe and Claar stole second on the next pitch. Cheyenne Lee then singled to score Gentry and allowed Claar to advance to third. With runners at first and third, Lee stole second on the first pitch. Kennedy Peggs then hit a double to left center field to plate two more runs. Anastasia Sorrell grounded out to first base allowing Peggs to advance to third. Bailey Parham had an RBI groundout scoring Peggs. Maleah Hewitt hit a two out double but was stranded on second.
Ashlynn Boyd led the 4th inning off with a single. Chloe Gentry grounded to second but the second baseman could not handle the throw allowing both runners to be safe and advance to second and third on the throwing error. Cheyenne Lee hit a sacrifice fly to right field scoring Boyd. Gentry was called out for leaving base early on the tag. With two outs Kennedy Peggs stepped to the plate and hit a triple over the centerfielders head that scored Morgan Richey who was pinch running for Ana Sorrell.  Bailey Parham then drove a single into left field scoring Peggs to round out the inning. Tri had a 7-0 lead going into the 5th inning.
In the bottom of the 5th Tri scored 3 more runs to invoke the 10 run rule. Rylee Boyd hit a fly ball to right field that the right fielder misplayed. The ball rolled all the way to the right field fence and Boyd didn’t stop until she crossed home plate. Her sister Ashlynn then doubled to left field to get herself into scoring position. Chloe Gentry doubled to left center to score Boyd putting the Titans up 9-0. Cayla Claar sacrifice bunted Gentry to third, setting up the Tri to score the winning run. Northeastern pulled the infield and outfield in to try and stop the run from scoring. Cheyenne Lee hit a single between third and short, scoring Gentry and putting the game away. Tri plays at Eastern Hancock on Saturday.
