The Tri Lady Titans traveled to North Decatur Wednesday night to take on the Lady Chargers. Tri’s Chloe Gentry had a solid performance in the circle holding North Decatur to one hit which occurred with a lead off single in the bottom of the 7th by Crossland to right field. Gentry struck out 9 while walking only one batter. This raises Gentry’s record to 3-0 on the season.
The game was a pitching battle through most of the game. Neither team was able to score any runs through the first three innings. Tri scored first in the top of the fourth when Cheyenne Lee led off with a triple. Kennedy Peggs then bunted allowing Lee to score the first run of the game. Tri held the Chargers in the bottom half of the stanza. In the fifth inning the game became delayed due to lightning. When the game resumed lightning struck in the Lady Titans bats. Tri plated 5 runs in the 6th to open the game up.
Cheyenne Lee led off with a single and Kennedy Peggs sacrifice bunted Lee to second base. Anastasia Sorrell then got a bunt single to put runners on first and third. Kennadi Kneply came in to pinch run for Sorrell and stole second base to put runners at second and third. Morgan Richey hit a soft blooper the first baseman misplayed allowing two runs to score. Richey advanced to second on the play attempt at the plate With two outs the Titans continued to extend their lead. Rylee Boyd hit a hard RBI single up the middle to score Richey. Boyd advanced to second when the centerfielder threw home attempting to get Richey. Ashlynn Boyd then walked to put runners on first and second. Chloe Gentry then hit a two RBI double to score both Boyd sisters then end the scoring. Gentry and the Titan defense were able to shut down the Charger offense in the last two innings to seal the victory. Tri is now 3-0 and play Randolph Southern in a double header on Saturday at 10am.
