The Lady Titan softball team once again had a great mound performance from Payton Moore and great defense to go along with some timely hittting to defeat a tough Lincoln team 4-1 in the second round of the sectional. Tri put pressure on the Eagle early scoring first and not trailing at any point in the game.

In the bottom of the frame the Titans regained the lead by scoring two runs. Destiny Taylor lead off with a single and then Payton Moore walked to put two runners on. Both runners advance on a slow roller to third hit by Lauren Bouslog. She was throw out on the play. Kirsten Falck then had an RBI single to score Taylor and Moore moved to third. Falck then stole second to put both runners in scoring position. Kierstyn Conyers then walked to load the bases. Kaley Harrison struck out to give the Eagles their second out of the inning. Breanna Reece then came through with a big hit just over second base to score Moore. Abi Busby ended the inning popping out the the second baseman. Tri left the third with a 3-1 lead.
Both teams were unable to push any runs across the plate until the Titans were able to score an insurance run. Kirsten Falck lead the inning off with a single to up the middle. She was sacrificed to second by Kirsten Conyers. She moved to third on a wild pitch. Kaley Harrison then singled to score Falck for the Titan’s final run of the game. Lincoln got a lead off walk in the 6th and then the Titans retired the next three batters. In the seventh Payton Moore recorded a strike out and then Destiny Taylor caught two pop ups in a row to end the game. We had a plan going into the game facing Russell, we wanted to choke up and shorten our swings and put the ball in play, said Coach Falck. We struggled a little against Burke on Tuesday, she was a hard thrower. We thought they may throw Russell because she has a little more velocity than Hall. We guessed right and the girls executed the game plan. We have to focus on our goal which is winning the sectional. Randolph Southern will be tough to beat, Falck said. Hopefully we can get it done. Tri is now 21-3.
