The Lady Titan softball team advanced in the sectional tournament with a tough 2-0 win over the Union Rockets. It was a pitchers dual from the beginning of the game. Payton Moore of Tri and Mackenzie Burk battled each other for 7 innings. Moore had 12 strikeouts and no walks while Burk had 5 strikeouts and 1 walk and two hit by pitch.
In the first Union got a couple of runners on board with some seeing eye singles by Green and Burke but neither was able to score. Moore was able to strike out 3 batters stranding the Rocket runners. In the bottom of the frame Payton Moore was hit by a pitch and stole second and third to put her in scoring position. On the steal to third the catcher threw the ball into left field allowing Moore to score giving the Titans an early 1-0 lead.
That is the way the game stayed until the 6th inning. Tri could only muster a few runners in the middle innings while Moore was mowing down the Union line up. Still with out a hit in the game, Kirsten Falck broke up the no hitter by hitting a double down the third base line. Kierstyn Conyers then stepped to the plate and hit another double down the right field line to give the Titans a 2-0 lead and a little insurance going into the 7th. In the top of the 7th Wilson lead off with a hard hit triple in the inning. The next batter hit the ball to Conyers at first base and she fired the ball home to Abi Busby who applied the tag to Wilson for the first out. With the runner on first with a fielders choice, Norman hit a line drive to Conyers at first who caught it and tagged first base for the final out. Tri is now 20-3 and will face Lincoln Wednesday.
